I know a lot of people spend a lot of time doing all these wonderfully amazing adventurous things to make themselves happy (me included) - but sometimes it's the little things in life that make us feel warm inside and put a smile on our faces.
Yesterday I spent the day dog sitting for my Granny - I love being at my Granny's as the house and area is so relaxing and beautiful and I've always had a good relationship with my Granny so I think I always feel happier there anyway.
But I spent the whole day just cuddling with the dogs, playing cards and watching films with Ed which was really nice - we also went for a lovely walk along the fields and luckily missed all the rain.
My Granny had also made us a really yummy lunch - chicken, potato salad, pesto pasta and salad with fresh tomatoes that I picked from the greenhouse - tasty!!!
So all in all it was a lovely chilled day so I was feeling really happy.
Anyway, we waited until 9pm for my Granny to get home as I wanted to see her even if it was only for a few minutes.
When she got back, she was really happy too as she thought we might have already gone home as it was quite late and the dogs would have been ok.
She asked if I would like a glass of wine before I left ... This glass of wine turned into 2 large glasses of wine and 3 hours of lovely conversation and reminiscing! With the possibility of a holiday on a canal boat in the near future (My Granny had owned one when I was younger and we would both love to recreate those experiences).
After getting home just after midnight I couldn't help but smile - it really is the tiniest things in life that we sometimes take for granted but can make us feel the happiest!
It's helped me to remember that you should always appreciate the people in life that allow you to be yourself and make you smile - don't worry about the people who might bring you down (whether they are supposedly family, friends or strangers) - it is our choice who we have in our lives and I strongly believe that you should only allow the people who make you smile to be a part of your life and that is exactly what I was reminded of today!
Those people will always be around and love you no matter what and a few hours with them can make you feel complete!
So remember to always make time for the people you actually want in your life and appreciate the simple things!
