My whole life I have lived less than an hour from Stonehenge, yet never visited the World Heritage site!
Many times I have driven past it and wondered about the mysteries of this beautiful stone circle!
Visiting the stones really is beautiful.
In the exhibition they have bones from a man that was buried in the many mounds around the stone circle over 4000 years ago - how insane is that?
And to enter the huts and see the way we believe the people in those times lived is amazing - Wouldn't mind going back to that lifestyle now, they were much more in touch with nature and understanding of the purpose of life I feel!
But although the exhibition is very educational, it is nothing compared to walking around Stonehenge yourself. Many people say they feel a spiritual connection with the stones when they are in their presence, and although I did not feel this connection, I was slightly overwhelmed by the beauty and incredible idea that these stones were built thousands of years ago and are still standing today.
But I felt the most amazing thing about Stonehenge is that after all these years of research, nobody knows what it is for or why it was built?
This mystery I feel adds to its beauty!
Although myself and Ed have speculations that it was Aliens behind the building of Stonehenge - same idea with the Pyramids (Just a conspiracy theory - yes it's fine if you disagree, its just good fun to speculate), it is truly incredible to know that Humans, thousands of years ago, built something so incredible and so clever!
I am glad to have lived another dream, but it hasn't stopped me wanting to know more and although I know I will never know the truth about Stonehenge's purpose, I will definitely be researching into the possibilities and would love to one day visit during the Solstice to see the sunset through the arches.
Stonehenge is incredibly unbelievable!
