Okay so traditional fun is a bit of a weird title ... But I think it's quite appropriate for this post ... Which is all about my experience of Archery!!!
Wow!!!
If you have never given archery a go then you must try it!
It really is amazing :)
You might watch people and think that looks easy - but when you give it a go you soon discover that nothing is ever as easy as it looks :P
Myself and Ed had a 2 and a half hour lesson ... This involved being taught how to shoot, the safety precautions, about the history or archery and demonstrations of a number of different bows (some very beautiful traditional bows and some more powerful modern ones)!
We also had lots of time shooting at the target ourselves :)
This requires quite a lot of concentration and a fair bit of strength with holding the bow in position and pulling the bowstring to shoot ... My arm was aching by the end of it! :P
I started off okay, hitting the target every time but not quite the centre ... Then after making adjustments to the sight and getting more comfortable with the practice of using the bow I began to hit mainly the gold and red :) This meant I was better than Ed :P
However, then came competition time ... I was voted to go first being the only girl ... And did quite well with a score of 44 (2 golds, 3 reds and 1 blue) ... Ed scored 46 which was a little better but I was still in it to win it ...
I then went first again in the second round and the pressure got a little too much ... I came away with a score of 25 this time and missed the target for the first time the whole morning :( Ed went on to get the same score again and won our overall group (damn him :P)!
Overall, Archery was so much fun and I loved it! Would definitely do it again :) It was brilliant and peaceful :)
