Just got home from a very long but brilliant day!
Today was my last summer adventure with Ed before he starts his course (so be prepared for lots of random blog posts about emotions and random things - keeping myself busy until I start my PGCE) and it was such a nice day.
We woke up after having a little bit of a lie in - always a good start to the day - I'm sure you will all agree :)
We then headed off to Farleigh-Hungerford Castle for a little bit of historical knowledge and to look at the pretty ruins.
We arrived just as they were opening up and went in and purchased our tickets and got our audio guides.
We spent a couple of hours wandering round the ruins and learning lots of interesting facts about the Castle and it's owners (One women plotted to kill her husband and then burned him in the ovens of the kitchen - Crazy times!).
Finally ending up in the Castles chapel and crypt which brought us lots of important peoples tombs and the discovery that Ed might be related to someone who married into the Hungerford family (His surname was on one of the crests in the Chapel).
We have now purchased an English Heritage membership for the year so be prepared for lots of days out at historical sights - what more could you ask for when you're training to be a teacher than free educational day trips!
We then went for a lovely pub meal in The Hungerford Arms (just a few minutes from the castle) and I had quite possibly the best Cauliflower Cheese I have ever had :)
After our lovely morning and lunchtime we headed off for a round of golf!
I have only recently started playing golf but it has become a bit of a passion and I really enjoy it (although sometimes I get frustrated when I don't play very well - I forget I'm not a pro).
We spent a couple of hours playing 18 holes and getting a little bit wet at times :) I played well for the last 9 holes but not so great in the first 9 and vice versa for Ed! With OK scores we came away feeling happy after having such a lovely day and finished off with a nice cup of tea in the Golf Club!
Today has got me thinking - it really doesn't matter what your interests are or what you spend your days doing - with good company, good food and a few good experiences then you can't help but feel happy :)
So keep dreaming but don't forget the simplicities of life <3
